ROLD SKOV SAVVÆRK A/S AND THE FOREST STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL® (FSC®)
Rold Skov Savværk A/S became FSC – Chain of Custody certified on March 23, 2012. Our certificate number is SA-COC-014249 and SA-CW-014249.
Rold Skov Sawmill A/S has the FSC® license code C108750.
Both the company’s management and other employees believe in the fundamental principles of this initiative. With the acquired certificate, the management aims to ensure that raw timber for production does not originate from:
– Illegally harvested timber.
– Timber from forest areas where customary or general civil rights are violated.
– Timber from forest areas of high conservation value where logging would harm that value.
– Timber harvested with the purpose of converting natural forests for other purposes.
– Timber from forests planted with genetically modified plants.
Rold Skov Sawmill A/S works with two different product groups within its FSC certification:
Finished Goods – timber, planks, battens and boards
These goods are produced on the company’s reduction and reducer-sawing lines with finishing at the edging. They belong to FSC product classification group W 5 “Sawn Wood.” FSC-certified finished goods are sold as “FSC Mix.”
By-products – wood chips
This product is manufactured during the sawing process on the company’s reduction and reducer-sawing lines, as well as through chipping and subsequent screening. By-products – wood chips belong to FSC product classification group W 3.1 “Wood in Chips.” Wood chips under the FSC scheme are sold as “FSC Mix.”
Both product groups are produced at both of the company’s branches in Sabro and Arden. The “FSC – credit system” is used as a calculation model for the proportion of FSC-certified goods. In both product groups, the raw material is softwood “Conifer.”
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT FSC
FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council and is an international non-profit organization with a labeling scheme for timber products. The concept behind FSC is based on 10 fundamental principles of responsible forest management, which include considerations for the environment, sustainability and the protection of cultural and social rights. The Chain of Custody scheme and an FSC label ensure that the purchased timber product has been produced according to these principles.
