Since the latter half of the 19th century, Lindenborg Gods A/S has operated its own sawmill to ensure the utilization of timber from its associated forests.
Initially, the sawmill primarily processed beechwood for butter tubs and produced wooden shoe soles. In the first half of the 20th century, the company evolved and began processing softwood from the forests for construction purposes.
In 1955, the sawmill was transformed into Rold Skov Savværk A/S, with the Count of Lindenborg Gods as the sole shareholder. Since the late 19th century, the sawmill has been physically located in Arden due to the estate’s forests surrounding the town. The location was strategically chosen considering the presence of the Jutland mainline railway station in Arden, providing excellent transportation options for the finished processed construction timber. Until the 1980s, the sawmill primarily processed timber from its own forests.
Following an expansion of the sawmill and a fire that occurred in the late 1980s, Rold Skov Savværk A/S acquired and merged several Danish softwood sawmills.
Today, Rold Skov Savværk A/S comprises two modern production units in Arden and Sabro, processing softwood for the entire country. The company is the largest sawmill group in the country specializing in the production of construction timber for the Danish and European construction sector.
In addition to construction timber, the product range includes cladding, packaging timber, heat-treated wood, bark and wood chips. Primary customer groups include timber merchants, building supply stores and the wood industry.
Rold Skov Savværk A/S is a subsidiary of the Lindenborg Gods A/S group, which is engaged in activities such as hunting, forestry, nursery, timber trading and estate management.
